Do You Actually Need a Wedding Coordinator?

I get asked this constantly, usually by someone who's five tabs deep into wedding Pinterest and just a little bit tired. My friends Isabelle and Blake have been toget
her for over 8 years now. They're one of those couples you just assume is already married. The ones everyone's been asking "so when's the wedding?" for years. Even though they always replied with "it's just a piece of paper," Blake finally popped the question and asked Isabelle to marry him. Fast forward three months, Isabelle comes to me and says "Help! How am I supposed to plan an entire wedding all by myself?" and my response was "You're not!"

What a coordinator actually does
Not just "day-of" logistics, though that's part of it. A good coordinator in Asheville and Western North Carolina is someone who knows this specific market: which venues have tricky parking, which vendors are worth every penny, which mountain roads turn into a problem when twelve cars try to caravan up them at once. It's local knowledge stacked on top of project management, and honestly, it's the difference between a wedding that flows and one where you're fielding questions from your caterer during your own first dance.
You might not need full planning, but you probably need someone
Here's the honest truth: not every couple needs a planner from day one. Plenty of couples in this area do a wonderful job picking their own venue and vendors. But almost every couple benefits from having someone step in for the final stretch, someone who builds the timeline, confirms every vendor, and runs the actual day so you and your family aren't doing it.
That's usually where I come in.
Signs you'd benefit from a coordinator
You're planning a wedding somewhere unfamiliar to your vendors (a lot of couples getting married in the mountains live elsewhere and are managing this long-distance). You have a big family with a lot of moving parts. You've already booked a stunning, one-of-a-kind venue, like a mountaintop or a farm such as Claxton Farm, where the winding gravel roads and tucked-away setting are part of what makes it so beautiful, but also mean guests benefit from a little extra guidance getting there. Or, simplest of all, you just want to actually enjoy your engagement instead of spending it managing spreadsheets.
What working together actually looks like
It's less "hand over control" and more "hand over the stress." You still get to make every decision that matters to you. I just make sure nothing falls through the cracks, and that the day itself runs the way you pictured it, without you having to check on any of it.
If you're on the fence
That's a completely normal place to be. A lot of couples reach out just to ask questions, not to book anything yet. If you want to talk through what coordinating would look like for your specific wedding, send me an email at quartzcreekevents@gmail.com. There's no pressure, just an honest conversation about whether it's the right fit.
